Smartphone Brand Honor Moves Team to Beijing

Chinese media outlet Time Weekly reported on Tuesday that an Honor insider confirmed that the smartphone brand’s teams in China are moving to Beijing. However, Honor’s global headquarter is still situated in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

On August 30, 2021, Honor, which was separated from Huawei, moved its headquarter to Futian District, Shenzhen, which is about 12 kilometers away from Huawei’s headquarter, and re-located nearly 2,200 employees into the new headquarters. At the end of 2022, Honor said that the number of its employees has exceeded 10,000.

Similar to Huawei’s structure, the China region of Honor mainly includes marketing, sales, procurement and other departments, but excludes R&D. The source added: “There are many employees in the China region, but a large part of them are based in Beijing. The relocation is mainly for work efficiency growth.”

In 2021, Honor sped up launching new products, including the V40 and X Series with prices ranging between 1500 yuan and 2000 yuan, the Play5 series with a price tag of over 2000 yuan, and the high-end Magic series going for as much as 6799 yuan, and two flagship devices – the Honor 50 and 60.

At the beginning of 2022, Honor launched Magic V, which started at 9999 yuan, and will unveil the Magic 4 soon.

With the intensive release schedule of products, Honor has gained a firm foothold in the market. According to Counterpoint Research, a market research organization, in the Chinese market, Honor ranked second in shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021, with a market share of 17%, only next to Apple.
